Choosing caviar accessories

Caviar needs very little equipment, but what it does need matters. A spoon that will not taint the eggs, a dish that keeps them cold, and a way to open the tin without a struggle are the essentials. Our caviar accessories cover all three, from a £3.50 mother of pearl tasting spoon to the William Yeoward Caspia Crystal Caviar Server. Metal reacts with caviar and can leave a faint metallic taste, which is why caviar has always been served with mother of pearl or horn. Our Mother of Pearl Caviar Spoon comes in a 6cm tasting size and a 12cm serving size, and each piece is unique. The Handmade Horn Caviar Spoon is hand carved in England from buffalo horn, in light or dark, and is also handsome for salt and mustard. Caviar that is too warm loses its flavour, and caviar that is too cold can freeze, so a server that sits over crushed ice makes a real difference. The Hand-Blown Glass Caviar Bowl holds 75 to 150g. The Silver Plated Caviar Bowl suspends a glass insert above the ice in a 16cm bowl, and the William Yeoward Caspia server holds 50 to 125g and includes a large mother of pearl spoon. The Caviar Tin Opener Key opens every size of tin with a simple twist; the sturgeon-shaped version comes gift boxed and is harder to lose in the cutlery drawer. If you are putting together a present, add the Luxury Black Gift Box and we will pack your chosen items with ribbon and a card. A spoon and a key make a thoughtful extra with any tin of caviar.

Frequently asked

Contact us
Why can't you use a metal spoon for caviar?

Metal reacts with caviar and can leave a faint metallic taste on the eggs. Mother of pearl, horn, glass or wood are all neutral and leave the flavour untouched.

How do you open a caviar tin?

Use a caviar key: slot it under the lid and give it a simple twist to lift the lid cleanly. Our key works on every size of tin.

How do you keep caviar cold when serving?

Set the tin or a glass dish over a bowl of crushed ice. Our glass, silver plated and crystal servers are all designed to do exactly this.

What size caviar server do I need?

Match it to your tin. The Caspia crystal server holds 50 to 125g, and the hand-blown glass bowl holds 75 to 150g, enough for three to six people.

What is a good caviar accessory gift?

A pair of mother of pearl spoons with the gift-boxed sturgeon caviar key makes a neat small present. For a larger gift, the silver plated bowl or William Yeoward crystal server will be used for years.
