Buying guide
After a rich supper of caviar or foie gras, a few very good chocolates are all anyone needs. Ours come from two British makers: Iain Burnett, the multi award-winning Highland Chocolatier, and Summerdown, a family farm in Hampshire that grows and distils its own peppermint. Each makes a thoughtful gift on its own or an easy addition to a hamper or gift box. Dark Chocolate Orangettes are strips of real candied orange peel dipped in 72% single origin São Tomé dark chocolate, packed in a 150g decorative tin. Think of them as a grown-up chocolate orange. Dark Chocolate Crystallised Ginger is soft crystallised stem ginger coated in dark chocolate with a minimum of 60% cocoa solids, in a generous 230g tin. Both are excellent with coffee after dinner. The Summerdown Mint Chocolate Collection is a 170g selection of after-dinner chocolates infused with single-estate Black Mitcham peppermint oil, grown, harvested and distilled on the farm. Inside are dark chocolate peppermint fondants, crisp discs and Neapolitans, plus a row of milk chocolate Neapolitans. It is a Great Taste award winner, gluten free and suitable for vegetarians, and at £9.50 one of our most affordable gifts. The orangettes also appear in several gift sets, including the Champagne, Caviar & Chocolate Gift Box and the Pol Roger, Caviar & Chocolate Gift Set, while the Dom Pérignon & Beluga Caviar Gift Box includes both Iain Burnett tins. Store chocolate somewhere cool and dry, around 15 to 18°C, away from strong smells and out of the fridge, and serve it at room temperature for the best flavour.
Iain Burnett is a multi award-winning chocolatier based in the Scottish Highlands. He makes our dark chocolate orangettes and crystallised ginger.
No. The fridge can cause a white bloom on the surface and lets chocolate pick up other smells. Keep it somewhere cool and dry, ideally 15 to 18°C.
Orangettes are strips of candied orange peel dipped in dark chocolate, a French classic. Ours use 72% single origin São Tomé chocolate.
Yes. The Summerdown Mint Chocolate Collection is gluten free and suitable for vegetarians.
Dark chocolate with fruit, such as our orangettes, sits better with Champagne than very sweet milk chocolate. That is why we pair them in our Champagne and caviar gift boxes.
