Care
- Wash by hand in warm, not hot, soapy water and rinse straight away.
- Do not put it in the dishwasher, which can split and dull the horn.
- Dry thoroughly with a cloth and never leave it to soak.
- Rub occasionally with a drop of mineral oil to keep the horn supple and glossy.
- Store away from direct heat and sunlight.
How to use it
- Slide the spoon into the caviar vertically and lift, so the eggs are scooped rather than crushed.
- Use it to serve caviar straight from the tin onto blinis with a little crème fraîche.
- Put out one spoon per person for tasting, or one for the tin when serving a group.
- Away from caviar, use it for salt cellars, mustard pots and chutneys such as our fig chutney.

Anything else you would like to know? Our team is always happy to help.
Is a horn spoon good for caviar?
Yes. Horn is the traditional alternative to mother of pearl and, like it, will not oxidise or flavour the caviar.
What is the difference between light and dark horn spoons?
Only the colour of the horn. Both are hand carved in England from buffalo horn and work in exactly the same way.
Can horn spoons be washed in the dishwasher?
No. Wash by hand and dry straight away. Because each spoon is handmade from natural horn, yours may differ slightly from the photograph.
How do you scoop caviar without crushing the eggs?
